My Tour on the Road

How arrange a Roadtrip Tour by yourself ?

Don't be scared! It's not that difficult... in the end a TOUR is just a journey in stages which, whether you use your own car or rent it, allows you to save on the cost of transport and to be more independent while enjoying your pleasure of time at your disposal. But how to organize it in the best way? I usually stick to these simple steps: -I take a map of the country I would like to visit (usually consult GoogleMaps but paper if you have it is fine!) -I choose the cities that I would be most interested in seeing -I try to draw a line from one city to another so that my tour makes logical sense -always check on GoogleMaps how far they are from each other and if the distance is too much I try to modify the itinerary by changing some routes or adding an intermediate stop that perhaps wasn't foreseen but which I never regret having included! and here it is... you're done! I already have a first draft of my next tour! now all we have to do is start booking! :)

First of all my advice is to start with the flights as once those are blocked you can then manage the hotels as you see fit. Obviously, if your arrival point is different from the departure point you should check whether it is better in terms of costs but also times to arrive at one point and leave from another or vice versa.

As you already know, low cost airlines such as Easy Jet, Ryan Air or Wizz Air are among the cheapest in terms of quality/price. Here too, however, I suggest you do a check because often adding baggage or other services turns out to be the same cost or even more expensive than other airlines which perhaps have better timetables or simply leave from more convenient airports. Once this has been verified, the time has come to book them. If you don't rely on a travel agency but want to do it on your own, be careful! I suggest you not to use sites like "eDreams" or "Skyscanner" or others but to go directly to the official website of the company itself. You will see that you will save the fees that these search engines apply on the total cost. At most, use them only to get an idea of availability and costs... just to have a general picture of the situation for those dates and routes.

At this point, half the work has already been done... now only the hotels are missing. I usually rely on Booking.com.. being a "genius" customer I often get a 10% discount on some structures. Then it is easy to use... intuitive and above all safe. Obviously the choice of hotels must be made through various evaluations. In addition to the price, I usually also look at the proximity to the center or to what is of interest to me, I always read some reviews and look at the rating of the structure, and the presence of some services such as private bathroom, wifi, breakfast included etc..

Once I have made the necessary assessments I proceed with the reservations and the hotels are also in place. Now you'll say... what's missing? Well.. all the additional services necessary to make your holiday perfect! Like a rental car? Yes, it's true... you can also take it once you land without having to pay anything in advance but why should you have to wait twice as long when you can easily book it directly from the sofa at home? There are various rental companies... Hertz, Avis, Europcar... etc... just to name a few. You can book your car on the websites of these rental companies or also through the websites of the airlines which often have special agreements with these rental companies and apply small discounts if you have booked the flight with them. And we come to the last procedure to be done... but not least! That is, the excursion. Here too, if you are convinced that you absolutely want to go on an excursion once you are on holiday, all you have to do is book it in advance so as not to miss out on the few places available and why not... sometimes even save a little. I often use GetYourGuide which sells many possibilities for excursions of various durations and above all for all budgets. And here it is! Your trip is planned down to the smallest detail. Now all you have to do is print all your confirmations and tickets, check in online if necessary and pack your suitcase to go. Have a good trip! PS: I always recommend writing down the contact details of your tour with itinerary, costs, etc. on a piece of paper so that you always have an eye on what you have booked... just in case! like this: 👇
