Rome

"Rome is not a City like others" (Alberto Sordi)
Ehy Guys.. nothing to say...the Capital is the Capital!!
Everyone and I mean everyone (Italian and not) must visit Rome at least once in their life!! It's a must!

You can arrive directly in the city thanks to the numerous connections that today's fast trains have... Frecciarossa or Italo (I recommend the latter for a simple economic question!!) with arrival directly at Termini station, and then move around the center with the means of transport (metro, tram and bus...although often the buses don't run because they're on strike or I don't know what...after all, my guys...the organization and the funds are Italian ones so we can't expect too much!!). Alternatively, you can also opt for a bike if you feel like pedaling or a carriage if you're not too keen on animal rights! From personal experience I do not recommend scooters... given that the entire historic center is characterized by the so-called cobblestones. In any case, however you decide to visit it and whichever area you stop in, this city has always been rich in history, art and culture so you always have something to admire and/or photograph. I don't know which one to recommend as the best time, because Rome is always beautiful! I have been more than once, as a child for the Epiphany, then on a school trip in the spring and even recently for the Immaculate Conception weekend... Obviously, with slightly milder temperatures you can get around better but you would get lost the Christmas decorations and the festive atmosphere! So it's up to you... based on your personal tastes and the time available to you to decide when to visit it.

What can I say about what to see instead? I think you all know the main attractions by reputation.. I can only advise you to avoid entering the Colosseum... forget about the intact staircases of the Verona arena for those who have seen it! It's all a ruin and I personally came away less than satisfied. Of course you can always go around boasting that you have entered the most famous amphitheater in the world but you decide according to your time and money. Keep in mind that they often offer "packages" including entry to the Colosseum + Roman Forum (a few steps from the latter) which is worth a visit. They can often also be purchased online, I always recommend the GetYourGuide site as it is reliable and has many possible choices. Then obviously there are the numerous squares with the famous fountains... I mention the most famous ones which are: Piazza di Spagna with the beautiful Barcaccia Fountain and the famous Trinità dei Monti staircase from the top of which you can enjoy the city from above; Piazza Navona with the Fountain of the Four Rivers; Piazza della Rotonda with the famous Pantheon and then also the always super crowded Trevi Fountain where there is the classic ritual of throwing the coin and finally Piazza Venezia with the palace of the same name which became famous during the era of Fascism and yet another symbol of the city . Let's not forget Piazza del Campidoglio and Palazzo del Quirinale, residence of the President of the Republic, which are immediately recognizable from the countless times seen on TV news. Obviously, while you are in Rome, a fixed stop for Catholics and non-Catholics is the Vatican city with its huge St. Peter's Square and the immense Papal Basilica. Finally, why not take a nice walk along the Tiber to admire the Castel Sant'Angelo? What else to add about Rome... do we want to talk about the food?? mmm... no come on.. I'd say no! I don't want to open another topic otherwise this page would become a poem!! Nothing... basically it's a city waiting to be discovered... what are you waiting for??
